Quilt for a Friend

Image
Hope eveyone's Holiday was happy and merry. It's been a busy last few weeks for me.  I've put in more hours than I even care to figure.  Just one more week and it will all be over and then we can get settled into a new year and a nice slow January.  Maybe I can get some of those quilting projects done that I've had to put off. Below is a quilt I made some three years ago for a friend of ours in St. Louis.  It has just now gotten quilted and bound, thanks to Thomas.  This will make the third quilt that he has quilted on his longarm.  If you look real close you will see that he did different quilting for the border than the center. Overall of quilt for our friend in St. Louis. Had to turn the quilt to get it hang on our back fence.  Showing off center quilt design.   Close up of circle quilting Back of quilt where you can see the star border Thomas has done. Zeus loves his pic...

The Desperate Housewife

Image
Today I'm offering up a block tutorial as a guest blogger in  QuiltJane 's Desperate Housewife's Quilt project.  Jane asked me many months ago to join her in making a 8" quilt block to share with you.  When I signed up I told her I would would take sometime in December knowing that I would have 3 plus months to get this done, but now remember how hectic the holidays are working retail.  You would think I would have remembered this working 10 plus years in retail, but lo and behold I did not.   I was trying to think what on earth I could make for Jane and I knew I wanted it to have a holiday theme.  I put my thinking cap on and remembered that Jane is from Australia, I thought they don't see many snowflakes there.  Off to work I went to make a quick and easy quilt block revolving around snowflakes.   Raw Edge Snowflake Pattern   Raw Edge Snowflake   I used my embroidery software to crea...

Pretty in Patchwork Holidays | ebook Available Now

Image
Thanksgiving is over and the mad rush of black Friday/Saturday is behind us.  Time to kick it in high gear and get ready for Christmas.  Only 4 weeks or 28 days or 672 hours or 40320 minutes till Christmas.  Good thing my house husband took the time to get our Christmas decorations up or they would have never gotten done because I've been busy selling sewing machines and working 10 plus hour days. I just wanted to check in and let you know that Ryan and I also known as  Patchwork Squared (P2)  have been published once again in the  upcoming book to be published by Lark  entitled Pretty in Patchwork Holidays by our  friend  John Q. Adams . The softcover version of the book won't be available till Spring/Summer 2012, but Lark is offering an ebook version for sale now  here . They've also officially announced the project on their blog and have a free PDF pattern for a  Handmade Shopping List Holder  by Ter...

Oh, Thank Cuteness | Zeus

Image
Shhhh, don't let Charlie know that I have hijacked his blog because I feel I am not getting enough exposure .  Ever since that damned sewing machine (that he has nicknamed Dolly) moved in, I feel like I've been put on the back burner or hung out to dry as some of you humans say.  It seems to me that he spends more time with his sewing  machine and facetime quilting with his best friend Ryan of Ryan Walsh Quilts than he does with me.  Thank God I have another daddy and an uncle or I would never get fed, watered, or let out for my morning constitutional.  Some days I feel I might call Sarah Mclachlan, but then I think there are less fortunate dogs than I and I don't have opposable thumbs. Below are some cute pictures of moi.. Me at the pound.  What a ham I was! You are taking me home, right? Sunning myself! Did someone say car ride?  Yes, please. Damn Santa Suit. Going on...

What Could It Be? Part Two

Image
Everyone wanted to know what was in the box from this post . Some even came into my work to ask. The clue I gave did not help you too much and I knew it would not. I only posted that because I thought it was funny and I like to sometimes look at Justin Timberlake and fantasize, but that is a whole other blog post and blog altogether. He is the man that brought Sexy Back after all. Mr. Zeus was hoping that it would be a big bone, but when I did open the package three days later, this is what I saw I thought about posting just this picture and making you wait a few more days, but that would be cruel and wrong. I was shopping on the web at my favorite web site, Hawthorne Threads when I saw that they had listed Deer Valley by Joel Dewberry on sale and I did not have any in my stash and needed to add some. So I quickly ordered some before all my other quilting friends got wind of it. As of this posting they still had some left. Get yours before it is gone! I don't have any id...

Quilt-Uber-Fest - Thoroughly Modern Monkey Wrench

Image
Welcome!!!! Are you having fun making all the amazing blocks? I know I am. I love all the talent of this group and how we all see things so differently. If you have not had a chance check out Erin Singleton of Two More Seconds block please do so. It's cute to boot. Before I dive too much feather into this post I guess I had better tell you what Quilt-Uber-Fest is. My good friend Scott has all the info on his blog and you may find out more about it there. Since Scott has taken the time to re-invent the wheel for Quilt-Uber-Fest I will let you read all about it on his blog. No sense in me redoing it. The fabrics used in all the blocks are selections from Nel Whatmore's Sleeping Beauty line for Free Spirit Fabrics , Kaffe Fassett's Wovens , and a solid of our choice. I can't wait to see what Nel will think of my block since she and I have been trading e-mails back and forth. I'm calling my block Thoroughly Modern Monkey Wrench Click ...
