Craftsy Blog Tour

Welcome to another stop on Craftsy block of the month hosted by our dear friend Amy. If you remember, Zeus and I meet her a few months back when we did a little chat together.  Her link can be found under Thirteen Questions with Zeus at the top of  this page if you care to read her interview.

Zeus and I are delighted to find that she has teamed up with Craftsy to bring you a monthly block of the month series.

If you are not familiar with Craftsy (as Zeus and I were not).  Here it is in a nutshell straight from their web site:

Craftsy offers online courses about all of your favorite crafty topics – taught by amazing instructors. Craftsy courses are online, so they are available to you anytime you want for as long as you want – they have no scheduled class times, so you can enjoy them entirely on your own schedule. Each course is taught by an acclaimed instructor and consists of several hours of HD-quality video content… but Craftsy courses are much more than just video! While taking a Craftsy course, you can:
  • Ask your instructor questions, upload photos, and get personalized responses
  • Participate in discussions with your classmates
  • Access supporting course materials – including patterns and helpful tips & tricks
  • Bookmark your favorite moments in the video so that you can easily re-watch them and take notes that you can refer back to anytime

Link to Amy's Craftsy Course - you can view the course preview here, but you'll need to click "sign up" to browse the lesson chapters, discussion forum, etc). In the course chapters, you will find an intro video explaining all about the course, Craftsy, and Amy.  There are 4 great lessons so far (2 for Jan & 2 for Feb).   Lots more coming, but you will just have to sign up to find out what they are.  I have seen them and yes, you are going to want to make them.

Here is my favorite of Amy's blocks thus far made into a simple quilt using solids along with some sashing thrown in to brake it up.

Fat Quarter Shop has offered the chance to win a $25 gift certificate at every stop on the tour. So that's 14 chances to win!

To enter to win just leave a comment telling what your new favorite up and coming fabric is that can be found at Fat Quarter Shop coming soon page and what block of Amy's you will make with your new favorite fabric from Fat Quarter Shop.  We will randomly choose a winner here on Wednesday March 6.  (duplicate comments will be deleted)

A Morning Scare

A Story:

I let Zeus out in the backyard early on Sunday morning and went put the coffee on so I might enjoy my day off.  I then check Facebook and twitter to see what I may have missed from the night before.  After doing so I go back to let Zeus back in.  Not seeing him waiting at the door like he usually is so he might go to his perch on the back of the couch and go back to sleep. I yell for him.  Nothing.  I yell louder thinking he is just playing on the side of the house where I can't see him.  I continue to yell, but nothing.  I walk around to the side of the house barefooted and that is when I see the gate had somehow been opened.  My heart skips a beat and fear starts to set in that I might never see Zeus again. I quickly run back in and put on some shoes and run out the front door yelling Zeus.  The whole time panicked and thinking the worst.  I run to the end of the drive way and nothing.  Thinking I would go and wake up our roommate Brian so he might aid in the search of Zeus and that's when I see him sitting on the front stoop looking at me with his beautiful puppy dog face and not a care in the world  It's was almost like he was saying, "What dad, I'm right here."  I then open the door and let him in and he runs to the back of the couch to lay back down and that is when I put my arms around him and start bawling while he licks up my tears.

Our baby Zeus

It's amazing how quickly they become a part of our family and touch the heart.

Quilting and Video Games

Thomas is sitting next to me playing Super Mario Brothers 3 as I write this post.  He likes to call that spending time together. :-)

I wanted to take a moment and show you a quilt that Thomas pulled off the quilting frame yesterday.  Not bad for his first paying job.

I like how bright and cheerful this quilt is.  Love the nested quilting circles.

Don't forget you have 'til Sunday to vote on your favorite pattern that Qubee Quilts will make and raffle off to someone who has donated $10 or more for AIDSWalk KC.

Check back Sunday when you, the readers, will choose the fabric for the winning pattern.

We would love to reach our goal of $1,000 for Aids Walk Kansas City so why not consider donating to today by going here, it is secure and safe.
