Busy, Busy, Busy

Love all the comments and thanks for the love.  You guys are the best!!!!  If you have not entered the giveaway there is still time.  Whoot!!! Remember only comments listed under Whoot! blog post count for the giveaway.

Sorry there is no Machine Friday blog post once again.  I will try for next Friday, but that is the day before I move and then the following Friday after that I will be on a float trip.  So it's not looking good either.  Maybe the second Friday in June.  I will do a blog post on Scant Quarter Inch.

Just a little something that I'm working on. Still need to get binding on him.  @KarrieLyne can you spot the ladybugs?  I'm sure most of you can figure out the fabric line that I used.  I'll give you a hint, they're all from Moda and more than one line. This is going to be my quilt for the Just Another Little Quilt Swap 4.  Join the swap so you can claim this quilt as your own.

Look at all this Moda goodness that showed up this week. The sale was so good I could not pass it up.  Can you spot the two designers from Moda that I heart most?  Their fabric is also in the little quilt I made above.

I'm in the middle of moving so most of my stuff/quilts are all packed away waiting to be unpacked.

Who knows what items I will unpack and show you.

Until next time,

Disturbing the Peace

It was a nice cloudy day in Kansas City.  Perfect day for a photo shoot of some upcoming quilts that will be released on Monday, May 17th at 5am.

I went outside in search of a spot to get some photos and I went to one of my favorite parks in the Northland, Hodge park and it was closed.  I thought some of the old historic buildings would have been a great spot for a few photos.  Off to search for another spot.  With none coming to mind I head home.  Just before I get home it hits me.  Why not take the photos out behind Wal-Mart.  They had fixed the place up and added a nice little walking trail and brick wall behind the store.  Perfect.  I find a spot and begin to clean off the patch that I want to lay my quilts.  I had to remove some seeds that had fallen from the trees, sticks and some trash.  I laid out the quilt and climbed on the wall and start taking my pictures.  I'm so engrossed with the taking of the pictures that I don't even see the cops walking up to me.  They tell me they got a call saying  that someone was disturbing the peace and causing a scene.  I tell the cops I'm just take some pictures of quilts.  They thought it odd why anyone would call this in.  Asked if that was my car and I told them yes.  They said thank you and turned around and walked off and I went back to taking more pictures.

Who knew that someone would think that taking pictures of quilts was casing a scene?  It's not like I was doing this in my underwear or I was naked under the quilts.  I was fully clothed and being good for once.  I left the place better than when I found it even.

Until next time,

Machine Fridays -Decorative Stitches.

To be honest with you I really just want to show off this great purse.  It's for my Mother.  She has known it's been coming for the last two years.  Better late than never I always say.  What do you know? It's done just in time for Mothers Day on Sunday.  Happy Mom's Day.  What are you getting your Mother or what do you want your kids to do for you?

You're thinking to yourself it's Friday, what does this purse have to do with you talking about sewing machines?  It has everything to do with it.  You sewing machine has a lot more stitches than the one that you all use, the straight stitch.

I bet your machine has stitches that you have never even used.  I know mine does.  The above purse has all kinds of decorative stitches going down the seams and on the top of the inside pockets.  My friend used 30 weight thread and made the stitches wider to accommodate.  Lets take a closer look at some of the yummy stitches that she used.  Do you use words like yummy to describe non food items?

Look at how the stitch stands out against the cherry and lime fabric.  Not sure that a 50 weight thread would have stood out as nicely.

Here are even more of the stitches.  The red on red works because of the thread choice.

Here is a stitch chart that gives you the name and what the stitch is used for.

I encourage you to play with your decorative stitches and see what you might come up with.  Why not get your walking foot out the next time you have a smaller quilts that needs quilting and play around.  Just might come up with something fresh and creative.

Are you the adventurous type that likes to think out of the box?  Then why not write a blog post about it.  Remember it is all about sharing.  Love to hear what you have to say good or bad.

Are you a fan of Qubee Quilts on Facebook?  You will want to be on Monday, May 17th.  Why you ask?  It's something good I promise.

I will leave you with this.  It was just to cute and I had to share.
