Log Cabins Today Giveaway

I've not done a blog post in what seems like weeks. I've Facebook and Tweeted about it, but that is about all I've done. It seems that the heat wave that hit most of the country has zapped my creative inner writing, blogging skills.

Work has been crazy busy and the last thing I wanted to do is come home and write or work on a sewing machine when I've been around them all day. My machine is ready for me to use it. It's just sitting there wondering if I still love it. Thinking I would love to be your fried and help you create some awesome stuff, just turn me on and lets get going, but no. I've been too wrapped up with work and CSI. Thomas has DVR'd them and I've forgotten how good they really are.

A few weeks back I was sent an awesome book called Log Cabins Today: New full-sized quilting book. by Nancy over at DRG to review.


Log Cabin Today introduces seven different ways of making one of quilting's most beloved blocks.

The Log Cabin block is a favorite among many quilters. Be creative with these projects using traditional or variations of the Log Cabin block. New techniques include using folded strips, raggy strips made from triangles and paper piecing from the top.

Log Cabins Today includes instructions on seven Log Cabin techniques with at least one project for each technique. Projects for all skill levels are included. Get 30+ projects for the home, family and friends!

    I love them, I just haven't made one -- yet. I've recently started one from my 1 1/2" strip bin. Who knows when I'll get it done. That pillow is cool looking. I'd love to add this book to my collection.

    I really like that quilt on the cover of the book. I have been thinking of doing something like that using bright colors and black.

    I have never made a log cabin block, although I have thought about doing one many times. Guess this would be the perfect excuse to give 'em a go!

    And log cabins are a longtime favorite of mine. Before I started quilting, it was my very favorite. Lots of ironing/cutting/sewing... but worth the work! Such a versatile block.

    Okay, so seriously: I adore log cabin quilts. Love the block's versatility and the magic other people do with them. BUT. Making them bores me to tears. Okay, maybe not tears, but definitely whining of the first magnitude.

    I haven't gotten as much sewing done this summer as I would have liked. Too much time working in the yard, and when it's really HOT, I can't stand spending a lot of time sewing!

    I wasn't good at making nice straight log cabin blocks until I started paper piecing them. Now they turn out great and I love them. So many variations are possible! Great way to use up some scraps too.

    Log Cabin - somehow I do not yet know the reasons - They are one of the most difficult bocks for me.
    I have to do this block for my SWAP partners and I can only hope it will be OK.

    In my short quilting career I've made over 100 log cabins of various sizes. My first strip pieced quilt was a log cabin. Love the versatility of this block.
